Celebrate Star Wars Day with DJs, virtual reality

Star Wars Day is a relatively recent creation, marking the month the movie opened in 1977. We’re surprised more local cinemas aren’t celebrating with screenings of the original trilogy or one of the newer movies.

But the Cyberia VR and SF Indiefest haven’t failed us. They’re hosting a “May the 4th Be With You” celebration at the Great Northern in San Francisco, featuring virtual reality fan films, costume contests and a host of DJs broken up into “Star Wars”-themed sets (“Episode II: A Tag of the Cones,” “Episode III: The Empire Strikes Mak” and more). DJs include Ney X Miss Mak, JohnJohn and the Sinewave Syndicate Upstairs Takeover.

The event is for “Star Wars” fans those age 21 and older — sorry, young padawans.
